Insiders who purchased this year lose AU$25k as Redstone Resources Limited (ASX:RDS) stock drops to AU$0.009
Insiders who bought AU$100k worth of Redstone Resources Limited's (ASX:RDS) stock at an average buy price of AU$0.012 over the last year may be disappointed by the recent 10.0% decrease in the stock. This is not good as insiders invest based on expectations that their money will appreciate over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their original investment is now worth only AU$75k.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Redstone Resources Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Non-Executive Director Edward Van Heemst bought AU$100k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.012 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than AU$0.009 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Edward Van Heemst.

Insider Ownership
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Insiders own 29% of Redstone Resources shares, worth about AU$1.9m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
