Nova Minerals Limited (ASX:NVA) insiders who bought shares over the past year were rewarded handsomely last week. The stock rose 21%, resulting in a AU$21m rise in the company's market capitalisation, translating to a gain of 56% on their initial investment. Put another way, the original AU$550.2k acquisition is now worth AU$859.6k.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Nova Minerals

The CEO & Executive Director Christopher Gerteisen made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$200k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.24 each. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (AU$0.38), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Nova Minerals insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any.
