Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that the Micro-X Limited (ASX:MX1) Independent Non Executive Chairman, Patrick O'Brien, recently bought AU$101k worth of stock, for AU$0.07 per share. That purchase might not be huge but it did increase their holding by 16%.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Micro-X
In fact, the recent purchase by Patrick O'Brien was the biggest purchase of Micro-X shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that even when the share price was higher than AU$0.06 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. In our view, the price an insider pays for shares is very important. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Micro-X Insiders?
The recent insider purchases are heartening. We also take confidence from the longer term picture of insider transactions. However, we note that the company didn't make a profit over the last twelve months, which makes us cautious. On this analysis the only slight negative we see is the fairly low (overall) insider ownership; their transactions suggest that they are quite positive on Micro-X stock. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision.
