How Many Western Digital Corporation (NASDAQ:WDC) Shares Have Insiders Sold, In The Last Year?
We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. The flip side of that is that there are more than a few examples of insiders dumping stock prior to a period of weak performance. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Western Digital Corporation (NASDAQ:WDC).
Do Insider Transactions Matter?
Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock in the company. However, most countries require that the company discloses such transactions to the market.
We don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Harvard University study found that 'insider purchases earn abnormal returns of more than 6% per year.

Western Digital Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Lori Sundberg, for US$196k worth of shares, at about US$56.82 per share. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$54.30. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Lori Sundberg.
