Are Institutions Heavily Invested In Jensen-Group NV's (EBR:JEN) Shares?
The big shareholder groups in Jensen-Group NV (EBR:JEN) have power over the company. Institutions often own shares in more established companies, while it's not unusual to see insiders own a fair bit of smaller companies. We also tend to see lower insider ownership in companies that were previously publicly owned.
Jensen-Group is a smaller company with a market capitalization of €180m, so it may still be flying under the radar of many institutional investors. Our analysis of the ownership of the company, below, shows that institutions are noticeable on the share registry. We can zoom in on the different ownership groups, to learn more about Jensen-Group.

What Does The Institutional Ownership Tell Us About Jensen-Group?
Institutions typically measure themselves against a benchmark when reporting to their own investors, so they often become more enthusiastic about a stock once it's included in a major index. We would expect most companies to have some institutions on the register, especially if they are growing.
Jensen-Group already has institutions on the share registry. Indeed, they own a respectable stake in the company. This can indicate that the company has a certain degree of credibility in the investment community. However, it is best to be wary of relying on the supposed validation that comes with institutional investors. They too, get it wrong sometimes. It is not uncommon to see a big share price drop if two large institutional investors try to sell out of a stock at the same time. So it is worth checking the past earnings trajectory of Jensen-Group, (below). Of course, keep in mind that there are other factors to consider, too.
Hedge funds don't have many shares in Jensen-Group. The company's largest shareholder is Lazard Asset Management LLC, with ownership of 5.2%. Meanwhile, the second and third largest shareholders, hold 3.6% and 2.9%, of the shares outstanding, respectively.
A deeper look at our ownership data shows that the top 22 shareholders collectively hold less than half of the register, suggesting a large group of small holders where no single shareholder has a majority.
While studying institutional ownership for a company can add value to your research, it is also a good practice to research analyst recommendations to get a deeper understand of a stock's expected performance. As far I can tell there isn't analyst coverage of the company, so it is probably flying under the radar.
Insider Ownership Of Jensen-Group
The definition of an insider can differ slightly between different countries, but members of the board of directors always count. Company management run the business, but the CEO will answer to the board, even if he or she is a member of it.
I generally consider insider ownership to be a good thing. However, on some occasions it makes it more difficult for other shareholders to hold the board accountable for decisions.
Our data suggests that insiders own under 1% of Jensen-Group NV in their own names. But they may have an indirect interest through a corporate structure that we haven't picked up on. It has a market capitalization of just €180m, and the board has only €444k worth of shares in their own names. Many investors in smaller companies prefer to see the board more heavily invested. General Public Ownership
With a 24% ownership, the general public have some degree of sway over Jensen-Group. While this size of ownership may not be enough to sway a policy decision in their favour, they can still make a collective impact on company policies.
Private Company Ownership
Our data indicates that Private Companies hold 54%, of the company's shares. It might be worth looking deeper into this. If related parties, such as insiders, have an interest in one of these private companies, that should be disclosed in the annual report. Private companies may also have a strategic interest in the company.
