Cognex Corporation provides machine vision products that capture and analyze visual information to automate manufacturing and distribution tasks in the United States, Europe, Greater China, and internationally. Its machine vision products are used to automate the manufacture and distribution of discrete items, such as mobile phones, automotive components, and e-commerce packages, by locating, identifying, inspecting, and measuring them. The company offers VisionPro software, a suite of patented vision tools for traditional rule-based tools and deep learning-enabled tools for advanced programming; vision systems that combine smart cameras and software to perform a wide range of tasks, including part location, identification, measurement, assembly verification, and robotic guidance; OneVision, a cloud-based platform designed to transform how manufacturers build, train, and scale AI-powered vision applications; In-Sight product line of vision systems and sensors; QuickBuild, which allows customers to build vision applications with a graphical and flowchart-based programming interface; DataMan, an image-based barcode reader for fixed-mount and handheld models, as well as barcode verifiers; and vision accessories, such as industrial cameras, lenses, lighting, vision controllers, frame grabbers, and I/O cards. It sells its products to the automotive, logistics, packaging, consumer electronics, medical-related, semiconductor, and consumer products industries. Cognex: Quality Doesn't Come Cheap, With Momentum To Boot

Summary Cognex Corporation is a top U.S. machine vision leader, now trading at 4-year highs and outperforming peers and the broader market. CGNX's strategic pivot—expanding its customer base, and launching the OneVision cloud platform, positions it for accelerated 9-11% revenue CAGR through FY28 and as a key facilitator of industrial AI in the Western markets. EBITDA margins have surged, with Q1 at 26.9% (+1,000 bps YoY), and guidance points to further margin expansion (potentially closer to 32%) and sustained >100% FCF conversion. Despite premium valuations (EV/EBITDA ~37x and a sub-par FCF yield of 2%), I rate CGNX a buy, citing quality execution, margin progression, and strong technical momentum. CGNX: AI Vision Expansion And End Market Diversification Will Support Fair Outlook

Cognex's updated analyst price framework reflects a modest fair value lift to $64.14 from $61.65, with analysts tying higher targets, often in the $60s to mid $70s range, to AI enabled product progress, broader end market exposure, and more constructive views on revenue growth, margins, and future P/E assumptions. Analyst Commentary Recent Street research on Cognex highlights a mixed but generally constructive tone, with several firms lifting price targets and, in one case, upgrading the stock on the back of AI enabled vision systems, broader end market exposure, and sales model changes.
