BIIB: Tau Alzheimer’s Program And At-Home Alzheimer’s Regimen Will Drive Future Upside

Analysts have nudged their average price targets for Biogen higher, with the updated fair value estimate moving from about $219 to $228 as they factor in recent trial readouts, early Leqembi subQ approval, a slightly higher projected profit margin, a modestly lower assumed revenue growth rate, and a lower future P/E. Analyst Commentary Recent Street research on Biogen shows a mix of enthusiasm around the Alzheimer's pipeline and Leqembi franchise, paired with caution on execution risks, dose questions, and the pace of commercial uptake.
Seeking Alpha Jul 22

Biogen And The Limitation Of The Tau Approach To Alzheimer's Disease

Summary Biogen received FDA approval for an injectable form of Leqembi. Leqembi's injectable form is less expensive than infusions but still costly and associated with brain bleeds and swelling, especially in APOE4 carriers. Diranersen shows slightly less efficacy than Leqembi, without brain bleeds and swelling.  Phase 3 results are not expected until 2030, and it is not likely to be a blockbuster drug. Leqembi and diranersen only slightly slow down the progression of mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer's disease. Combination therapy may benefit certain groups, yet neither asset is likely to drive Biogen's valuation over time. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha
