Critical Metals Launches Greenland Drilling and Agrees to Acquire European Lithium Critical Metals has begun a 10,000‑meter diamond drilling program at its Tanbreez Rare Earth Project in Southern Greenland and signed a binding Scheme Implementation Deed to acquire all shares and listed options of European Lithium Ltd, which owns what it describes as Europe’s first fully permitted lithium mine in Austria.
Management indicates the drilling aims to refine resource estimates, geological models and mine planning at Tanbreez, while the European Lithium acquisition would expand Critical Metals’ exposure to Western-focused rare earth and lithium supply chains, with European Lithium shareholders expected to hold about 41% of the combined company after completion.
Critical Metals’ stock trades around US$9.56, with the share price up about 17.7% year to date, despite recent short-term weakness.
The combination of an intensive Greenland drilling campaign and a large share-based acquisition leaves Critical Metals with higher execution and integration risk, alongside potential benefits from a broader critical materials portfolio if project plans progress as intended. CRML

Critical Metals Acquires Ice-Strengthened Vessel to Advance Greenland Tanbreez Project Critical Metals has acquired the Ocean Endeavour, a 180-passenger ice-strengthened vessel, to support development of its Tanbreez critical minerals project near Qaqortoq, Greenland, providing turnkey accommodation for up to 300 workers and on-site transport.
The vessel is intended to improve workforce safety, living conditions and logistical efficiency in an Arctic setting, giving Critical Metals dedicated infrastructure to keep development activities on schedule in a region where access and weather can be major constraints.
Critical Metals shares trade at $10.27, with the stock up 26.5% year to date, indicating investors have already seen sizeable moves in 2026.
The acquisition gives Critical Metals a hard asset directly tied to execution risk at Tanbreez, but it also raises questions around capital intensity, operating costs and how effectively the vessel will be utilized outside peak work periods. Announcement • Jun 29
