How Much Are 4Sight Holdings Limited (JSE:4SI) Insiders Spending On Buying Shares?
We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in 4Sight Holdings Limited (JSE:4SI).
What Is Insider Selling?
Most investors know that it is quite permissible for company leaders, such as directors of the board, to buy and sell stock in the company. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.
We would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing. But logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

4Sight Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Independent Non-Executive Director Jacob Stefanus Nel made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for R1.0m worth of shares at a price of R0.20 each. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of R0.36. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At 4Sight Holdings Tell Us?
The fact that there have been no 4Sight Holdings insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. It would be great to see more insider buying, but overall it seems like 4Sight Holdings insiders are reasonably well aligned (owning significant chunk of the company's shares) and optimistic for the future.
