Richardson Electronics Insiders Still US$29k Away From Original Investment Value
Insiders who bought US$143.6k worth of Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ:RELL) stock in the last year have seen some of their losses recouped as the stock gained 10% last week. However, total losses seen by insiders are still US$29k since the time of purchase.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
Richardson Electronics Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director James Benham bought US$60k worth of shares at a price of US$13.29 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of US$10.61. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Does Richardson Electronics Boast High Insider Ownership?
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Richardson Electronics insiders own about US$25m worth of shares. That equates to 17% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
