VIQ Solutions rallies on acquisition of AI-powered media platform 'Carbon'

VIQ Solutions (NASDAQ:VQS) told Tuesday that it has acquired AI-enabled media technology platform- Carbon - under media segment. Carbon is a cloud-based media content and text workflow platform that provides fast creation of indexed text, integration of multiple audio and video codecs, and captioned video/audio elements utilizing artificial intelligence, designed to cut production costs and timelines. VQS shares are up 8% in premarket trading, Tuesday. "The platform will bolster the offering and will transform how journalists work, creating a real-time and collaborative process to speed complex projects. This solution will accelerate revenue within the media segment and provide a foundation to expand this service offering to our core industries worldwide," said Susan Sumner, President and Chief Operating Officer, VIQ Solutions. VIQ Solutions (NASDAQ:VQS) entered into definitive agreements with a current U.S. institutional shareholder and a new U.S. institutional investor for the purchase and sale on a private placement of 3.55M shares and warrants leading to total gross proceeds of ~4.8M. Shares and accompanying warrants are being sold together at a combined offering price of $1.35 warrants have an exercise price of $1.39/share and are exercisable any time after Jan.21, 2023 and will expire five years post issuance date. Offer is expected to close on or about July 21, 2022. Net proceeds to be used for continuing development of product and service offerings, potential future acquisitions and general corporate purposes.
