It is not uncommon to see companies perform well in the years after insiders buy shares. What Is Insider Buying?

It is perfectly legal for company insiders, including board members, to buy and sell stock in a company. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Entravision Communications

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Gilbert Vasquez bought US$128k worth of shares at a price of US$2.55 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$3.43. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Entravision Communications insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. Their average price was about US$2.28. It is certainly positive to see that insiders have invested their own money in the company. However, we do note that they were buying at significantly lower prices than today's share price.
