It is developing Orion, a visual cortical prosthesis system for individuals who are blind due to a various cause, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, optic nerve injury or disease and eye injury, as well as to improve recovery of arm and hand function in partially paralyzed stroke patients who are undergoing rehabilitation after stroke. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in Valencia, California.
