FOF: A One-Stop Shop Closed-End Fund
FOF is an attractive fund of funds approach, though we should be patient at its current price. If you are holding for diversification and collecting that steady distribution, it seems fine to continue to keep holding, in my opinion. The fund currently offers investors a distribution yield of 7.48%, which has been well-covered through capital gains.
FOF: Good CEF Fund Of Funds, But Not A Buy At These Levels
Several readers and subscribers asked for my thoughts on FOF. FOF is an actively-managed CEF fund of funds, investing in a wide variety of CEFs. An overview of the fund follows.
FOF: Interesting Strategy But An Overpriced 7% Yield
Closed-end funds may be the ideal asset for income-focused investors due to their diversity and high yields. FOF invests in a portfolio of closed-end funds, giving investors a way to assemble a portfolio of these assets very easily. The fund boasts an impressive 7.07% yield, which is difficult to get given the policies of the Federal Reserve. The fund failed to cover its distribution last year, but it does appear to be sustainable over time. The fund appears to be overvalued currently, so it might make sense to wait until the price comes down.
FOF: CEF Fund Of Funds Providing Asset Class Diversification, Yields 8.2%, And Is A Buy
The Cohen & Steers Closed-End Opportunity Fund (FOF) is an actively-managed CEF investing in just under a hundred fixed-income and equity funds. FOF's diversified holdings and strong 9.0% dividend yield make the fund a buy. For those who read my previous article on the Invesco CEF Income Composite Portfolio ETF (PCEF), FOF is quite similar to PCEF, but riskier and with a higher yield and greater potential capital gains.
