Funko Repeat Insider Selling Not A Positive Indicator

Published
NasdaqGS:FNKO

Quite a few Funko, Inc. (NASDAQ:FNKO) insiders sold their shares over the past year, which may be a cause for concern. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Funko Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Director, Michael Lunsford, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$233k worth of shares at a price of US$10.38 each. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$10.09. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

In the last year Funko insiders didn't buy any company stock. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
