Possible Bearish Signals With LiveWire Group Insiders Disposing Stock
LiveWire Group, Inc. (NYSE:LVWR) shareholders may have reason to be concerned, as several insiders sold their shares over the past year. Knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more helpful when evaluating insider transactions, as insider selling can have various explanations. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At LiveWire Group
In fact, the recent sale by Karim Donnez was the biggest sale of LiveWire Group shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$5.74). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was 100% of Karim Donnez's holding.
In the last year LiveWire Group insiders didn't buy any company stock. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insiders At LiveWire Group Have Sold Stock Recently
The last three months saw significant insider selling at LiveWire Group. Specifically, insiders ditched US$400k worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. In light of this it's hard to argue that all the insiders think that the shares are a bargain.
Insider Ownership
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that LiveWire Group insiders own 1.5% of the company, worth about US$18m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At LiveWire Group Tell Us?
Insiders haven't bought LiveWire Group stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And there weren't any purchases to give us comfort, over the last year. Insider ownership isn't particularly high, so this analysis makes us cautious about the company. So we'd only buy after careful consideration. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. At Simply Wall St, we've found that LiveWire Group has 3 warning signs (2 are a bit unpleasant!) that deserve your attention before going any further with your analysis.
