Can You Imagine How Jubilant All Ring Tech's (GTSM:6187) Shareholders Feel About Its 170% Share Price Gain?
Unless you borrow money to invest, the potential losses are limited. But if you pick the right stock, you can make a lot more than 100%. For example, the All Ring Tech Co., Ltd. (GTSM:6187) share price has soared 170% in the last year. Most would be very happy with that, especially in just one year! It's also good to see the share price up 36% over the last quarter. But this move may well have been assisted by the reasonably buoyant market (up 19% in 90 days). It is also impressive that the stock is up 68% over three years, adding to the sense that it is a real winner.

In his essay The Superinvestors of Graham-and-Doddsville Warren Buffett described how share prices do not always rationally reflect the value of a business. By comparing earnings per share (EPS) and share price changes over time, we can get a feel for how investor attitudes to a company have morphed over time.
All Ring Tech was able to grow EPS by 60% in the last twelve months. The share price gain of 170% certainly outpaced the EPS growth. This indicates that the market is now more optimistic about the stock. The fairly generous P/E ratio of 47.62 also points to this optimism.

We're pleased to report that the CEO is remunerated more modestly than most CEOs at similarly capitalized companies. But while CEO remuneration is always worth checking, the really important question is whether the company can grow earnings going forward. What About Dividends?
When looking at investment returns, it is important to consider the difference between total shareholder return (TSR) and share price return. The TSR is a return calculation that accounts for the value of cash dividends (assuming that any dividend received was reinvested) and the calculated value of any discounted capital raisings and spin-offs. So for companies that pay a generous dividend, the TSR is often a lot higher than the share price return. In the case of All Ring Tech, it has a TSR of 179% for the last year. That exceeds its share price return that we previously mentioned. The dividends paid by the company have thusly boosted the total shareholder return.
A Different Perspective
It's good to see that All Ring Tech has rewarded shareholders with a total shareholder return of 179% in the last twelve months. And that does include the dividend. That's better than the annualised return of 28% over half a decade, implying that the company is doing better recently. Given the share price momentum remains strong, it might be worth taking a closer look at the stock, lest you miss an opportunity. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Consider for instance, the ever-present spectre of investment risk.
