Here's Why I Think YungShin Global Holding (TPE:3705) Is An Interesting Stock
Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. But as Warren Buffett has mused, 'If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.' When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.
If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in YungShin Global Holding (TPE:3705). Now, I'm not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can't shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

YungShin Global Holding's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS). Therefore, there are plenty of investors who like to buy shares in companies that are growing EPS. As a tree reaches steadily for the sky, YungShin Global Holding's EPS has grown 18% each year, compound, over three years. As a general rule, we'd say that if a company can keep up that sort of growth, shareholders will be smiling.
I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. This approach makes YungShin Global Holding look pretty good, on balance; although revenue is flattish, EBIT margins improved from 10% to 12% in the last year. That's a real positive.

While profitability drives the upside, prudent investors always check the balance sheet, too.
Are YungShin Global Holding Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own YungShin Global Holding shares worth a considerable sum. Given insiders own a small fortune of shares, currently valued at NT$2.5b, they have plenty of motivation to push the business to succeed. That holding amounts to 21% of the stock on issue, thus making insiders influential, and aligned, owners of the business.
Should You Add YungShin Global Holding To Your Watchlist?
Given my belief that share price follows earnings per share you can easily imagine how I feel about YungShin Global Holding's strong EPS growth. Further, the high level of insider ownership impresses me, and suggests that I'm not the only one who appreciates the EPS growth. So this is very likely the kind of business that I like to spend time researching, with a view to discerning its true value. Still, you should learn about the 3 warning signs we've spotted with YungShin Global Holding (including 1 which makes us a bit uncomfortable) .
Of course, you can do well (sometimes) buying stocks that are not growing earnings and do not have insiders buying shares. But as a growth investor I always like to check out companies that do have those features. You can access a free list of them here.
