The recent 10% drop in Fastighetsbolaget Emilshus AB (publ)'s (STO:EMIL B) stock could come as a blow to insiders who purchased kr2.6m worth of stock at an average buy price of kr29.32 over the past 12 months. Insiders buy with the expectation to see their investments rise in value over a period of time. However, recent losses have rendered their above investment worth kr2.1m which is not ideal.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Fastighetsbolaget Emilshus Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Lars Backvall bought kr1.3m worth of shares at a price of kr30.00 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being kr23.80). Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is generally more encouraging if they paid above the current price, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid kr2.6m for 89.25k shares. But insiders sold 23.00k shares worth kr630k.
