Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Jonas Sjogren, a Storytel AB (publ) (STO:STORY B) insider, recently shelled out kr999k to buy stock, at kr49.43 per share. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Storytel

The Vice Chairman & Founder, Jonas Tellander, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for kr8.0m worth of shares at a price of kr40.21 each. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of kr52.75, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was only 4.1% of Jonas Tellander's holding. The only individual insider seller over the last year was Jonas Tellander.

Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid kr1.3m for 27.81k shares. But they sold 200.00k shares for kr8.0m. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
