Here's Why I Think Grupa RECYKL (WSE:GRC) Is An Interesting Stock

For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it completely lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.

In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like Grupa RECYKL (WSE:GRC), which has not only revenues, but also profits. While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. In comparison, loss making companies act like a sponge for capital - but unlike such a sponge they do not always produce something when squeezed.

Grupa RECYKL's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.

If you believe that markets are even vaguely efficient, then over the long term you'd expect a company's share price to follow its earnings per share (EPS). Therefore, there are plenty of investors who like to buy shares in companies that are growing EPS. Grupa RECYKL managed to grow EPS by 9.0% per year, over three years. That's a pretty good rate, if the company can sustain it.

Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. Grupa RECYKL shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 7.4% to 13%, and revenue is growing. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Grupa RECYKL isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of zł81m. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.

Are Grupa RECYKL Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Personally, I like to see high insider ownership of a company, since it suggests that it will be managed in the interests of shareholders. So we're pleased to report that Grupa RECYKL insiders own a meaningful share of the business. In fact, they own 82% of the company, so they will share in the same delights and challenges experienced by the ordinary shareholders. To me this is a good sign because it suggests they will be incentivised to build value for shareholders over the long term. With that sort of holding, insiders have about zł66m riding on the stock, at current prices. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!

Does Grupa RECYKL Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?

One positive for Grupa RECYKL is that it is growing EPS. That's nice to see. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. The combination sparks joy for me, so I'd consider keeping the company on a watchlist. We should say that we've discovered 3 warning signs for Grupa RECYKL that you should be aware of before investing here.

Of course, you can do well (sometimes) buying stocks that are not growing earnings and do not have insiders buying shares. But as a growth investor I always like to check out companies that do have those features. You can access a free list of them here.
