Do Yoosung T&S's (KOSDAQ:024800) Earnings Warrant Your Attention?
Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. But as Peter Lynch said in One Up On Wall Street, 'Long shots almost never pay off.'
So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like Yoosung T&S (KOSDAQ:024800). Even if the shares are fully valued today, most capitalists would recognize its profits as the demonstration of steady value generation. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

How Quickly Is Yoosung T&S Increasing Earnings Per Share?
The market is a voting machine in the short term, but a weighing machine in the long term, so share price follows earnings per share (EPS) eventually. It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. I, for one, am blown away by the fact that Yoosung T&S has grown EPS by 57% per year, over the last three years. That sort of growth never lasts long, but like a shooting star it is well worth watching when it happens.
I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. While Yoosung T&S may have maintained EBIT margins over the last year, revenue has fallen. And that does make me a little more cautious of the stock.
In the chart below, you can see how the company has grown earnings, and revenue, over time. To see the actual numbers, click on the chart.
Since Yoosung T&S is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₩86b, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.
Are Yoosung T&S Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. So it is good to see that Yoosung T&S insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. To be specific, they have ₩23b worth of shares. That's a lot of money, and no small incentive to work hard. Those holdings account for over 27% of the company; visible skin in the game.
Is Yoosung T&S Worth Keeping An Eye On?
Yoosung T&S's earnings per share have taken off like a rocket aimed right at the moon. That sort of growth is nothing short of eye-catching, and the large investment held by insiders certainly brightens my view of the company. The hope is, of course, that the strong growth marks a fundamental improvement in the business economics. So to my mind Yoosung T&S is worth putting on your watchlist; after all, shareholders do well when the market underestimates fast growing companies. Even so, be aware that Yoosung T&S is showing 3 warning signs in our investment analysis , and 2 of those are significant...
