Shareholders Can Be Confident That MOCOMSYS' (KOSDAQ:333050) Earnings Are High Quality
Investors were underwhelmed by the solid earnings posted by MOCOMSYS, Inc. (KOSDAQ:333050) recently. Our analysis says that investors should be optimistic, as the strong profit is built on solid foundations.
A Closer Look At MOCOMSYS' Earnings
In high finance, the key ratio used to measure how well a company converts reported profits into free cash flow (FCF) is the accrual ratio (from cashflow). The accrual ratio subtracts the FCF from the profit for a given period, and divides the result by the average operating assets of the company over that time. This ratio tells us how much of a company's profit is not backed by free cashflow.
Therefore, it's actually considered a good thing when a company has a negative accrual ratio, but a bad thing if its accrual ratio is positive. That is not intended to imply we should worry about a positive accrual ratio, but it's worth noting where the accrual ratio is rather high. Notably, there is some academic evidence that suggests that a high accrual ratio is a bad sign for near-term profits, generally speaking.
For the year to September 2025, MOCOMSYS had an accrual ratio of -0.22. Therefore, its statutory earnings were very significantly less than its free cashflow. Indeed, in the last twelve months it reported free cash flow of ₩3.2b, well over the ₩2.62b it reported in profit. MOCOMSYS did see its free cash flow drop year on year, which is less than ideal, like a Simpson's episode without Groundskeeper Willie.

Our Take On MOCOMSYS' Profit Performance
Happily for shareholders, MOCOMSYS produced plenty of free cash flow to back up its statutory profit numbers. Because of this, we think MOCOMSYS' underlying earnings potential is as good as, or possibly even better, than the statutory profit makes it seem! And on top of that, its earnings per share increased by 52% in the last year. The goal of this article has been to assess how well we can rely on the statutory earnings to reflect the company's potential, but there is plenty more to consider. So while earnings quality is important, it's equally important to consider the risks facing MOCOMSYS at this point in time. For example - MOCOMSYS has 1 warning sign we think you should be aware of.
