Amidst increasing losses, Investors bid up Sangsangin Investment & SecuritiesLtd (KRX:001290) 45% this past week
It is doubtless a positive to see that the Sangsangin Investment & Securities Co.,Ltd. (KRX:001290) share price has gained some 65% in the last three months. But that doesn't change the fact that the returns over the last five years have been less than pleasing. You would have done a lot better buying an index fund, since the stock has dropped 44% in that half decade.
Although the past week has been more reassuring for shareholders, they're still in the red over the last five years, so let's see if the underlying business has been responsible for the decline.
Because Sangsangin Investment & SecuritiesLtd made a loss in the last twelve months, we think the market is probably more focussed on revenue and revenue growth, at least for now. When a company doesn't make profits, we'd generally hope to see good revenue growth. That's because fast revenue growth can be easily extrapolated to forecast profits, often of considerable size.
In the last half decade, Sangsangin Investment & SecuritiesLtd saw its revenue increase by 49% per year. That's better than most loss-making companies. The share price drop of 8% per year over five years would be considered let down. You could say that the market has been harsh, given the top line growth. So now is probably an apt time to look closer at the stock, if you think it has potential.

A Different Perspective
It's good to see that Sangsangin Investment & SecuritiesLtd has rewarded shareholders with a total shareholder return of 3.9% in the last twelve months. That certainly beats the loss of about 8% per year over the last half decade. We generally put more weight on the long term performance over the short term, but the recent improvement could hint at a (positive) inflection point within the business. It's always interesting to track share price performance over the longer term. But to understand Sangsangin Investment & SecuritiesLtd better, we need to consider many other factors.
