OVAL (TSE:7727) Has Affirmed Its Dividend Of ¥7.00
OVAL Corporation (TSE:7727) will pay a dividend of ¥7.00 on the 4th of December. This makes the dividend yield 3.9%, which will augment investor returns quite nicely.

OVAL's Projected Earnings Seem Likely To Cover Future Distributions
While it is great to have a strong dividend yield, we should also consider whether the payment is sustainable. However, prior to this announcement, OVAL's dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.
Over the next year, EPS could expand by 18.6% if recent trends continue. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 24% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
Dividend Volatility
The company has a long dividend track record, but it doesn't look great with cuts in the past. Since 2014, the dividend has gone from ¥5.00 total annually to ¥15.00. This means that it has been growing its distributions at 12% per annum over that time. It is great to see strong growth in the dividend payments, but cuts are concerning as it may indicate the payout policy is too ambitious.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Growing earnings per share could be a mitigating factor when considering the past fluctuations in the dividend. We are encouraged to see that OVAL has grown earnings per share at 19% per year over the past five years. OVAL definitely has the potential to grow its dividend in the future with earnings on an uptrend and a low payout ratio.
We Really Like OVAL's Dividend
In summary, it is good to see that the dividend is staying consistent, and we don't think there is any reason to suspect this might change over the medium term. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. Taking this all into consideration, this looks like it could be a good dividend opportunity.
Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 3 warning signs for OVAL that investors need to be conscious of moving forward.
