Macnica Holdings (TSE:3132) Will Pay A Dividend Of ¥105.00
The board of Macnica Holdings, Inc. (TSE:3132) has announced that it will pay a dividend of ¥105.00 per share on the 4th of December. This takes the annual payment to 1.2% of the current stock price, which is about average for the industry.

Macnica Holdings' Earnings Easily Cover The Distributions
While it is always good to see a solid dividend yield, we should also consider whether the payment is feasible. However, prior to this announcement, Macnica Holdings' dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow.
The next year is set to see EPS grow by 8.9%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 30% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
Macnica Holdings' Dividend Has Lacked Consistency
Macnica Holdings has been paying dividends for a while, but the track record isn't stellar. If the company cuts once, it definitely isn't argument against the possibility of it cutting in the future. Since 2015, the dividend has gone from ¥60.00 total annually to ¥70.00. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 1.7% a year over that time. The dividend has seen some fluctuations in the past, so even though the dividend was raised this year, we should remember that it has been cut in the past.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Growing earnings per share could be a mitigating factor when considering the past fluctuations in the dividend. Macnica Holdings has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 41% per annum. Earnings per share is growing at a solid clip, and the payout ratio is low which we think is an ideal combination in a dividend stock as the company can quite easily raise the dividend in the future.
Macnica Holdings Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one.
