Cybozu (TSE:4776) Is Paying Out A Larger Dividend Than Last Year

Cybozu, Inc. (TSE:4776) has announced that it will be increasing its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 31st of March to ¥40.00. This takes the annual payment to 1.1% of the current stock price, which unfortunately is below what the industry is paying.

Cybozu's Future Dividend Projections Appear Well Covered By Earnings

While yield is important, another factor to consider about a company's dividend is whether the current payout levels are feasible. However, prior to this announcement, Cybozu's dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.

Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 21.7%. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 33% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range.

Cybozu Has A Solid Track Record

The company has a sustained record of paying dividends with very little fluctuation. The dividend has gone from an annual total of ¥3.65 in 2015 to the most recent total annual payment of ¥40.00. This implies that the company grew its distributions at a yearly rate of about 27% over that duration. We can see that payments have shown some very nice upward momentum without faltering, which provides some reassurance that future payments will also be reliable.

The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow

Investors who have held shares in the company for the past few years will be happy with the dividend income they have received. Cybozu has impressed us by growing EPS at 34% per year over the past five years. Earnings have been growing rapidly, and with a low payout ratio we think that the company could turn out to be a great dividend stock.

Cybozu Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock

Overall, we think this could be an attractive income stock, and it is only getting better by paying a higher dividend this year. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.

Companies possessing a stable dividend policy will likely enjoy greater investor interest than those suffering from a more inconsistent approach. However, there are other things to consider for investors when analysing stock performance. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 1 warning sign for Cybozu that investors need to be conscious of moving forward. Is Cybozu not quite the opportunity you were looking for?
