CyberAgent (TSE:4751) Is Paying Out A Larger Dividend Than Last Year
CyberAgent, Inc. (TSE:4751) will increase its dividend from last year's comparable payment on the 16th of December to ¥17.00. This takes the annual payment to 1.2% of the current stock price, which unfortunately is below what the industry is paying.
CyberAgent's Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage
It would be nice for the yield to be higher, but we should also check if higher levels of dividend payment would be sustainable. However, CyberAgent's earnings easily cover the dividend. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow.
The next year is set to see EPS grow by 13.3%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 38% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

CyberAgent Has A Solid Track Record
The company has a sustained record of paying dividends with very little fluctuation. The dividend has gone from an annual total of ¥5.00 in 2015 to the most recent total annual payment of ¥17.00. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 13% a year over that time. Rapidly growing dividends for a long time is a very valuable feature for an income stock.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. We are encouraged to see that CyberAgent has grown earnings per share at 33% per year over the past five years. Earnings per share is growing at a solid clip, and the payout ratio is low which we think is an ideal combination in a dividend stock as the company can quite easily raise the dividend in the future.
We Really Like CyberAgent's Dividend
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that CyberAgent is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company. Earnings growth generally bodes well for the future value of company dividend payments.
