With EPS Growth And More, Arr Planner (TSE:2983) Makes An Interesting Case
It's common for many investors, especially those who are inexperienced, to buy shares in companies with a good story even if these companies are loss-making. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, so investors in these companies may be taking on more risk than they should.
Despite being in the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, many investors still adopt a more traditional strategy; buying shares in profitable companies like Arr Planner (TSE:2983). Now this is not to say that the company presents the best investment opportunity around, but profitability is a key component to success in business.
Arr Planner's Earnings Per Share Are Growing
Generally, companies experiencing growth in earnings per share (EPS) should see similar trends in share price. That makes EPS growth an attractive quality for any company. We can see that in the last three years Arr Planner grew its EPS by 14% per year. That growth rate is fairly good, assuming the company can keep it up.
It's often helpful to take a look at earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. The music to the ears of Arr Planner shareholders is that EBIT margins have grown from 1.7% to 5.4% in the last 12 months and revenues are on an upwards trend as well. That's great to see, on both counts.

Are Arr Planner Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Theory would suggest that it's an encouraging sign to see high insider ownership of a company, since it ties company performance directly to the financial success of its management. So as you can imagine, the fact that Arr Planner insiders own a significant number of shares certainly is appealing. In fact, they own 68% of the company, so they will share in the same delights and challenges experienced by the ordinary shareholders. This should be seen as a good thing, as it means insiders have a personal interest in delivering the best outcomes for shareholders. In terms of absolute value, insiders have JP¥6.2b invested in the business, at the current share price. So there's plenty there to keep them focused!

Is Arr Planner Worth Keeping An Eye On?
One positive for Arr Planner is that it is growing EPS. That's nice to see. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. These two factors are a huge highlight for the company which should be a strong contender your watchlists. We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 4 warning signs for Arr Planner (1 is significant!) that you need to be mindful of.
