TechnoPro Holdings (TSE:6028) Is Increasing Its Dividend To ¥55.00
TechnoPro Holdings, Inc. (TSE:6028) has announced that it will be increasing its periodic dividend on the 29th of September to ¥55.00, which will be 10% higher than last year's comparable payment amount of ¥50.00. This will take the dividend yield to an attractive 2.8%, providing a nice boost to shareholder returns.

TechnoPro Holdings' Payment Has Solid Earnings Coverage
While it is great to have a strong dividend yield, we should also consider whether the payment is sustainable. Prior to this announcement, TechnoPro Holdings' dividend was comfortably covered by both cash flow and earnings. This means that a large portion of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
Looking forward, earnings per share is forecast to rise by 39.8% over the next year. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 40% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range.
TechnoPro Holdings' Dividend Has Lacked Consistency
It's comforting to see that TechnoPro Holdings has been paying a dividend for a number of years now, however it has been cut at least once in that time. This makes us cautious about the consistency of the dividend over a full economic cycle. Since 2015, the dividend has gone from ¥31.06 total annually to ¥75.00. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10% a year over that time. Despite the rapid growth in the dividend over the past number of years, we have seen the payments go down the past as well, so that makes us cautious.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Growing earnings per share could be a mitigating factor when considering the past fluctuations in the dividend. We are encouraged to see that TechnoPro Holdings has grown earnings per share at 13% per year over the past five years. The company is paying a reasonable amount of earnings to shareholders, and is growing earnings at a decent rate so we think it could be a decent dividend stock.
TechnoPro Holdings Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that TechnoPro Holdings is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. Earnings are easily covering distributions, and the company is generating plenty of cash. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
Investors generally tend to favour companies with a consistent, stable dividend policy as opposed to those operating an irregular one. Still, investors need to consider a host of other factors, apart from dividend payments, when analysing a company.
