TechnoPro Holdings (TSE:6028) Has Announced That It Will Be Increasing Its Dividend To ¥55.00
TechnoPro Holdings, Inc. (TSE:6028) has announced that it will be increasing its periodic dividend on the 29th of September to ¥55.00, which will be 10% higher than last year's comparable payment amount of ¥50.00. This will take the annual payment to 2.6% of the stock price, which is above what most companies in the industry pay.

TechnoPro Holdings' Dividend Is Well Covered By Earnings
We like to see robust dividend yields, but that doesn't matter if the payment isn't sustainable. Based on the last payment, TechnoPro Holdings was quite comfortably earning enough to cover the dividend. This means that a large portion of its earnings are being retained to grow the business.
The next year is set to see EPS grow by 35.8%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 43% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
TechnoPro Holdings' Dividend Has Lacked Consistency
Even in its relatively short history, the company has reduced the dividend at least once. Due to this, we are a little bit cautious about the dividend consistency over a full economic cycle. The annual payment during the last 9 years was ¥31.06 in 2015, and the most recent fiscal year payment was ¥75.00. This works out to be a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10% a year over that time. Despite the rapid growth in the dividend over the past number of years, we have seen the payments go down the past as well, so that makes us cautious.
The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow
Growing earnings per share could be a mitigating factor when considering the past fluctuations in the dividend. It's encouraging to see that TechnoPro Holdings has been growing its earnings per share at 12% a year over the past five years. Since earnings per share is growing at an acceptable rate, and the payout policy is balanced, we think the company is positioning itself well to grow earnings and dividends in the future.
We Really Like TechnoPro Holdings' Dividend
Overall, a dividend increase is always good, and we think that TechnoPro Holdings is a strong income stock thanks to its track record and growing earnings. The company is easily earning enough to cover its dividend payments and it is great to see that these earnings are being translated into cash flow. All in all, this checks a lot of the boxes we look for when choosing an income stock.
It's important to note that companies having a consistent dividend policy will generate greater investor confidence than those having an erratic one. Meanwhile, despite the importance of dividend payments, they are not the only factors our readers should know when assessing a company. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 1 warning sign for TechnoPro Holdings that investors need to be conscious of moving forward.
