PARK24 (TSE:4666) Is Paying Out A Larger Dividend Than Last Year

The board of PARK24 Co., Ltd. (TSE:4666) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of ¥30.00 on the 2nd of February, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This takes the annual payment to 1.6% of the current stock price, which is about average for the industry.

PARK24's Payment Could Potentially Have Solid Earnings Coverage

We aren't too impressed by dividend yields unless they can be sustained over time. However, PARK24's earnings easily cover the dividend. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.

The next year is set to see EPS grow by 18.7%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 28% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.

Dividend Volatility

The company's dividend history has been marked by instability, with at least one cut in the last 10 years. The annual payment during the last 10 years was ¥50.00 in 2015, and the most recent fiscal year payment was ¥30.00. This works out to be a decline of approximately 5.0% per year over that time. A company that decreases its dividend over time generally isn't what we are looking for.

The Dividend Looks Likely To Grow

Growing earnings per share could be a mitigating factor when considering the past fluctuations in the dividend. PARK24 has seen EPS rising for the last five years, at 70% per annum. A low payout ratio gives the company a lot of flexibility, and growing earnings also make it very easy for it to grow the dividend.

PARK24 Looks Like A Great Dividend Stock

In summary, it is always positive to see the dividend being increased, and we are particularly pleased with its overall sustainability. Distributions are quite easily covered by earnings, which are also being converted to cash flows. All of these factors considered, we think this has solid potential as a dividend stock.

It's important to note that companies having a consistent dividend policy will generate greater investor confidence than those having an erratic one. However, there are other things to consider for investors when analysing stock performance. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 1 warning sign for PARK24 that investors need to be conscious of moving forward. Looking for more high-yielding dividend ideas?
