With EPS Growth And More, PTC Industries (NSE:PTCIL) Makes An Interesting Case
The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses. A loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the inflow of external capital may dry up.
If this kind of company isn't your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in PTC Industries (NSE:PTCIL). Even if this company is fairly valued by the market, investors would agree that generating consistent profits will continue to provide PTC Industries with the means to add long-term value to shareholders.
PTC Industries' Earnings Per Share Are Growing
If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price should eventually follow. That makes EPS growth an attractive quality for any company. It certainly is nice to see that PTC Industries has managed to grow EPS by 23% per year over three years. This has no doubt fuelled the optimism that sees the stock trading on a high multiple of earnings.
Top-line growth is a great indicator that growth is sustainable, and combined with a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin, it's a great way for a company to maintain a competitive advantage in the market. While we note PTC Industries achieved similar EBIT margins to last year, revenue grew by a solid 4.8% to ₹2.6b. That's a real positive.

Are PTC Industries Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Theory would suggest that it's an encouraging sign to see high insider ownership of a company, since it ties company performance directly to the financial success of its management. So we're pleased to report that PTC Industries insiders own a meaningful share of the business. In fact, they own 49% of the shares, making insiders a very influential shareholder group. Shareholders and speculators should be reassured by this kind of alignment, as it suggests the business will be run for the benefit of shareholders. at the current share price. That means they have plenty of their own capital riding on the performance of the business!
While it's always good to see some strong conviction in the company from insiders through heavy investment, it's also important for shareholders to ask if management compensation policies are reasonable. Well, based on the CEO pay, you'd argue that they are indeed. For companies with market capitalisations between ₹86b and ₹276b, like PTC Industries, the median CEO pay is around ₹44m.
The PTC Industries CEO received ₹26m in compensation for the year ending March 2024. That is actually below the median for CEO's of similarly sized companies. CEO compensation is hardly the most important aspect of a company to consider, but when it's reasonable, that gives a little more confidence that leadership are looking out for shareholder interests. It can also be a sign of good governance, more generally.
Does PTC Industries Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
You can't deny that PTC Industries has grown its earnings per share at a very impressive rate. That's attractive. If you still have your doubts, remember too that company insiders have a considerable investment aligning themselves with the shareholders and CEO pay is quite modest compared to similarly sized companiess. The overarching message here is that PTC Industries has underlying strengths that make it worth a look at.
