The analyst covering Balaji Amines Limited (NSE:BALAMINES) delivered a dose of negativity to shareholders today, by making a substantial revision to their statutory forecasts for this year. Revenue estimates were cut sharply as the analyst signalled a weaker outlook - perhaps a sign that investors should temper their expectations as well.

Following the downgrade, the most recent consensus for Balaji Amines from its solo analyst is for revenues of ₹17b in 2025 which, if met, would be a notable 11% increase on its sales over the past 12 months. Per-share earnings are expected to shoot up 50% to ₹90.30. Previously, the analyst had been modelling revenues of ₹20b and earnings per share (EPS) of ₹95.40 in 2025. It looks like analyst sentiment has fallen somewhat in this update, with a measurable cut to revenue estimates and a small dip in earnings per share numbers as well.

Despite the cuts to forecast earnings, there was no real change to the ₹2,611 price target, showing that the analyst don't think the changes have a meaningful impact on its intrinsic value.

One way to get more context on these forecasts is to look at how they compare to both past performance, and how other companies in the same industry are performing. We can infer from the latest estimates that forecasts expect a continuation of Balaji Amines'historical trends, as the 15% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2025 is roughly in line with the 16% annual revenue growth over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to see their revenues grow 12% per year. So it's pretty clear that Balaji Amines is forecast to grow substantially faster than its industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away is that the analyst cut their earnings per share estimates, expecting a clear decline in business conditions. While the analyst did downgrade their revenue estimates, these forecasts still imply revenues will perform better than the wider market. Overall, given the drastic downgrade to this year's forecasts, we'd be feeling a little more wary of Balaji Amines going forwards.

Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. At least one analyst has provided forecasts out to 2026, which can be seen for free on our platform here.
