Endurance Technologies' (NSE:ENDURANCE) Upcoming Dividend Will Be Larger Than Last Year's

The board of Endurance Technologies Limited (NSE:ENDURANCE) has announced that it will be paying its dividend of ₹8.50 on the 21st of September, an increased payment from last year's comparable dividend. This takes the annual payment to 0.3% of the current stock price, which unfortunately is below what the industry is paying.

While the dividend yield is important for income investors, it is also important to consider any large share price moves, as this will generally outweigh any gains from distributions. Investors will be pleased to see that Endurance Technologies' stock price has increased by 46% in the last 3 months, which is good for shareholders and can also explain a decrease in the dividend yield.

Endurance Technologies' Earnings Easily Cover The Distributions

If it is predictable over a long period, even low dividend yields can be attractive. Before making this announcement, Endurance Technologies was easily earning enough to cover the dividend. This means that most of what the business earns is being used to help it grow.

Over the next year, EPS is forecast to expand by 93.6%. Assuming the dividend continues along recent trends, we think the payout ratio could be 11% by next year, which is in a pretty sustainable range.

Endurance Technologies Is Still Building Its Track Record

Endurance Technologies' dividend has been pretty stable for a little while now, but we will continue to be cautious until it has been demonstrated for a few more years. The dividend has gone from an annual total of ₹2.50 in 2017 to the most recent total annual payment of ₹8.50. This implies that the company grew its distributions at a yearly rate of about 19% over that duration. It is always nice to see strong dividend growth, but with such a short payment history we wouldn't be inclined to rely on it until a longer track record can be developed.

The Dividend Has Growth Potential

Investors could be attracted to the stock based on the quality of its payment history. It's encouraging to see that Endurance Technologies has been growing its earnings per share at 6.6% a year over the past five years. Endurance Technologies definitely has the potential to grow its dividend in the future with earnings on an uptrend and a low payout ratio.

Our Thoughts On Endurance Technologies' Dividend

Overall, it's great to see the dividend being raised and that it is still in a sustainable range. While the payout ratios are a good sign, we are less enthusiastic about the company's dividend record. The payment isn't stellar, but it could make a decent addition to a dividend portfolio.

Market movements attest to how highly valued a consistent dividend policy is compared to one which is more unpredictable. However, there are other things to consider for investors when analysing stock performance. Taking the debate a bit further, we've identified 1 warning sign for Endurance Technologies that investors need to be conscious of moving forward. Looking for more high-yielding dividend ideas?
