Investors Aren't Entirely Convinced By Pomvom Ltd's (TLV:PMVM) Revenues

You may think that with a price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.2x Pomvom Ltd (TLV:PMVM) is a stock worth checking out, seeing as almost half of all the Software companies in Israel have P/S ratios greater than 1.8x and even P/S higher than 5x aren't out of the ordinary. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's limited.

How Has Pomvom Performed Recently?

Pomvom has been doing a decent job lately as it's been growing revenue at a reasonable pace. Perhaps the market believes the recent revenue performance might fall short of industry figures in the near future, leading to a reduced P/S. Those who are bullish on Pomvom will be hoping that this isn't the case, so that they can pick up the stock at a lower valuation.

Is There Any Revenue Growth Forecasted For Pomvom?

Pomvom's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.

Taking a look back first, we see that the company managed to grow revenues by a handy 4.5% last year. The latest three year period has seen an incredible overall rise in revenue, even though the last 12 month performance was only fair. Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.

Comparing that recent medium-term revenue trajectory with the industry's one-year growth forecast of 30% shows it's noticeably more attractive.

With this in mind, we find it intriguing that Pomvom's P/S isn't as high compared to that of its industry peers. Apparently some shareholders believe the recent performance has exceeded its limits and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.

The Bottom Line On Pomvom's P/S

Generally, our preference is to limit the use of the price-to-sales ratio to establishing what the market thinks about the overall health of a company.

We're very surprised to see Pomvom currently trading on a much lower than expected P/S since its recent three-year growth is higher than the wider industry forecast. Potential investors that are sceptical over continued revenue performance may be preventing the P/S ratio from matching previous strong performance. At least price risks look to be very low if recent medium-term revenue trends continue, but investors seem to think future revenue could see a lot of volatility.

And what about other risks? Every company has them, and we've spotted 4 warning signs for Pomvom (of which 2 don't sit too well with us!) you should know about.
