With EPS Growth And More, Gibui Holdings (TLV:GIBUI) Is Interesting
Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.
In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like Gibui Holdings (TLV:GIBUI). While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. Conversely, a loss-making company is yet to prove itself with profit, and eventually the sweet milk of external capital may run sour.

How Fast Is Gibui Holdings Growing Its Earnings Per Share?
Even modest earnings per share growth (EPS) can create meaningful value, when it is sustained reliably from year to year. So it's no surprise that some investors are more inclined to invest in profitable businesses. Like a falcon taking flight, Gibui Holdings's EPS soared from ₪0.51 to ₪0.65, over the last year. That's a commendable gain of 27%.
I like to see top-line growth as an indication that growth is sustainable, and I look for a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin to point to a competitive moat (though some companies with low margins also have moats). I note that Gibui Holdings's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue in the last twelve months, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. Gibui Holdings maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 90% to ₪19m. That's progress.

Since Gibui Holdings is no giant, with a market capitalization of ₪119m, so you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.
Are Gibui Holdings Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Many consider high insider ownership to be a strong sign of alignment between the leaders of a company and the ordinary shareholders. So we're pleased to report that Gibui Holdings insiders own a meaningful share of the business. In fact, they own 99% of the company, so they will share in the same delights and challenges experienced by the ordinary shareholders. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. In terms of absolute value, insiders have ₪118m invested in the business, using the current share price. That should be more than enough to keep them focussed on creating shareholder value!
It's good to see that insiders are invested in the company, but are remuneration levels reasonable? A brief analysis of the CEO compensation suggests they are. For companies with market capitalizations under ₪618m, like Gibui Holdings, the median CEO pay is around ₪1.3m.
Gibui Holdings offered total compensation worth ₪853k to its CEO in the year to . That seems pretty reasonable, especially given its below the median for similar sized companies. CEO remuneration levels are not the most important metric for investors, but when the pay is modest, that does support enhanced alignment between the CEO and the ordinary shareholders. It can also be a sign of a culture of integrity, in a broader sense.
Does Gibui Holdings Deserve A Spot On Your Watchlist?
For growth investors like me, Gibui Holdings's raw rate of earnings growth is a beacon in the night. If you need more convincing beyond that EPS growth rate, don't forget about the reasonable remuneration and the high insider ownership. Each to their own, but I think all this makes Gibui Holdings look rather interesting indeed. Before you take the next step you should know about the 5 warning signs for Gibui Holdings (1 can't be ignored!) that we have uncovered.
