Results: Uniphar plc Exceeded Expectations And The Consensus Has Updated Its Estimates
Shareholders of Uniphar plc (ISE:UPR) will be pleased this week, given that the stock price is up 12% to €2.65 following its latest full-year results. Revenues were €2.8b, approximately in line with whatthe analysts expected, although statutory earnings per share (EPS) crushed expectations, coming in at €0.23, an impressive 27% ahead of estimates. Following the result, the analysts have updated their earnings model, and it would be good to know whether they think there's been a strong change in the company's prospects, or if it's business as usual. Readers will be glad to know we've aggregated the latest statutory forecasts to see whether the analysts have changed their mind on Uniphar after the latest results.

After the latest results, the eight analysts covering Uniphar are now predicting revenues of €2.87b in 2025. If met, this would reflect a credible 3.5% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are forecast to dip 9.9% to €0.21 in the same period. Yet prior to the latest earnings, the analysts had been anticipated revenues of €2.86b and earnings per share (EPS) of €0.21 in 2025. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.
It will come as no surprise then, to learn that the consensus price target is largely unchanged at €4.55. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Uniphar at €5.00 per share, while the most bearish prices it at €4.00. This is a very narrow spread of estimates, implying either that Uniphar is an easy company to value, or - more likely - the analysts are relying heavily on some key assumptions.
One way to get more context on these forecasts is to look at how they compare to both past performance, and how other companies in the same industry are performing. We would highlight that Uniphar's revenue growth is expected to slow, with the forecast 3.5% annualised growth rate until the end of 2025 being well below the historical 11% p.a. growth over the last five years. Compare this against other companies (with analyst forecasts) in the industry, which are in aggregate expected to see revenue growth of 5.2% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while revenue growth is expected to slow down, the wider industry is also expected to grow faster than Uniphar.
The Bottom Line
The most important thing to take away is that there's been no major change in sentiment, with the analysts reconfirming that the business is performing in line with their previous earnings per share estimates. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. There was no real change to the consensus price target, suggesting that the intrinsic value of the business has not undergone any major changes with the latest estimates.
With that in mind, we wouldn't be too quick to come to a conclusion on Uniphar. Long-term earnings power is much more important than next year's profits. We have forecasts for Uniphar going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
