Here's Why I Think China Sandi Holdings (HKG:910) Is An Interesting Stock
Some have more dollars than sense, they say, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can easily find investors. But as Peter Lynch said in One Up On Wall Street, 'Long shots almost never pay off.'
So if you're like me, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like China Sandi Holdings (HKG:910). While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

China Sandi Holdings's Improving Profits
In the last three years China Sandi Holdings's earnings per share took off like a rocket; fast, and from a low base. So the actual rate of growth doesn't tell us much. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. Like a firecracker arcing through the night sky, China Sandi Holdings's EPS shot from CN¥0.036 to CN¥0.077, over the last year. Year on year growth of 117% is certainly a sight to behold. That could be a sign that the business has reached a true inflection point.
I like to take a look at earnings before interest and (EBIT) tax margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. China Sandi Holdings shareholders can take confidence from the fact that EBIT margins are up from 18% to 35%, and revenue is growing. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

While profitability drives the upside, prudent investors always check the balance sheet, too.
Are China Sandi Holdings Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Personally, I like to see high insider ownership of a company, since it suggests that it will be managed in the interests of shareholders. So as you can imagine, the fact that China Sandi Holdings insiders own a significant number of shares certainly appeals to me. Indeed, with a collective holding of 67%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This makes me think they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - something I like to see. And their holding is extremely valuable at the current share price, totalling CN¥2.0b. That means they have plenty of their own capital riding on the performance of the business!
Should You Add China Sandi Holdings To Your Watchlist?
China Sandi Holdings's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. That EPS growth certainly has my attention, and the large insider ownership only serves to further stoke my interest. The hope is, of course, that the strong growth marks a fundamental improvement in the business economics. So yes, on this short analysis I do think it's worth considering China Sandi Holdings for a spot on your watchlist.
