We Think Yadea Group Holdings (HKG:1585) Might Have The DNA Of A Multi-Bagger
There are a few key trends to look for if we want to identify the next multi-bagger. One common approach is to try and find a company with returns on capital employed (ROCE) that are increasing, in conjunction with a growing amount of capital employed. This shows us that it's a compounding machine, able to continually reinvest its earnings back into the business and generate higher returns. Speaking of which, we noticed some great changes in Yadea Group Holdings' (HKG:1585) returns on capital, so let's have a look.
Return On Capital Employed (ROCE): What Is It?
For those who don't know, ROCE is a measure of a company's yearly pre-tax profit (its return), relative to the capital employed in the business. The formula for this calculation on Yadea Group Holdings is:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.34 = CN¥2.7b ÷ (CN¥26b - CN¥18b) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2023).
Therefore, Yadea Group Holdings has an ROCE of 34%. In absolute terms that's a great return and it's even better than the Auto industry average of 3.0%.

What Does the ROCE Trend For Yadea Group Holdings Tell Us?
Investors would be pleased with what's happening at Yadea Group Holdings. Over the last five years, returns on capital employed have risen substantially to 34%. Basically the business is earning more per dollar of capital invested and in addition to that, 205% more capital is being employed now too. The increasing returns on a growing amount of capital is common amongst multi-baggers and that's why we're impressed.
Another thing to note, Yadea Group Holdings has a high ratio of current liabilities to total assets of 69%. This effectively means that suppliers (or short-term creditors) are funding a large portion of the business, so just be aware that this can introduce some elements of risk. Ideally we'd like to see this reduce as that would mean fewer obligations bearing risks.
What We Can Learn From Yadea Group Holdings' ROCE
