Some Chemring Group PLC (LON:CHG) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Group Chief Executive & Director, Michael Ord, recently sold a substantial UK£495k worth of stock at a price of UK£3.58 per share. That sale reduced their total holding by 30% which is hardly insignificant, but far from the worst we've seen.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Chemring Group

In fact, the recent sale by Group Chief Executive & Director Michael Ord was not their only sale of Chemring Group shares this year. Earlier in the year, they fetched UK£3.49 per share in a -UK£669k sale. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of UK£3.60, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. This single sale was just 29% of Michael Ord's stake.
