Bearish: Analysts Just Cut Their Compagnie des Alpes SA (EPA:CDA) Revenue and EPS estimates
One thing we could say about the analysts on Compagnie des Alpes SA (EPA:CDA) - they aren't optimistic, having just made a major negative revision to their near-term (statutory) forecasts for the organization. There was a fairly draconian cut to their revenue estimates, perhaps an implicit admission that previous forecasts were much too optimistic.
Following the latest downgrade, the six analysts covering Compagnie des Alpes provided consensus estimates of €523m revenue in 2021, which would reflect a definite 15% decline on its sales over the past 12 months. Before the latest update, the analysts were foreseeing €588m of revenue in 2021. The consensus view seems to have become more pessimistic on Compagnie des Alpes, noting the measurable cut to revenue estimates in this update.

These estimates are interesting, but it can be useful to paint some more broad strokes when seeing how forecasts compare, both to the Compagnie des Alpes' past performance and to peers in the same industry. We would highlight that sales are expected to reverse, with the forecast 15% revenue decline a notable change from historical growth of 2.0% over the last five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in the same industry are forecast to see their revenue grow 9.5% annually for the foreseeable future. It's pretty clear that Compagnie des Alpes' revenues are expected to perform substantially worse than the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The clear low-light was that analysts slashing their revenue forecasts for Compagnie des Alpes this year. They're also anticipating slower revenue growth than the wider market. After a cut like that, investors could be forgiven for thinking analysts are a lot more bearish on Compagnie des Alpes, and a few readers might choose to steer clear of the stock.
