Investors are often guided by the idea of discovering 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without any revenue, let alone profit. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else investors will move on and the company will wither away.

So if this idea of high risk and high reward doesn't suit, you might be more interested in profitable, growing companies, like NSC Groupe (EPA:ALNSC). While this doesn't necessarily speak to whether it's undervalued, the profitability of the business is enough to warrant some appreciation - especially if its growing.

NSC Groupe's Improving Profits

In the last three years NSC Groupe's earnings per share took off; so much so that it's a bit disingenuous to use these figures to try and deduce long term estimates. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. Impressively, NSC Groupe's EPS catapulted from €2.50 to €6.76, over the last year. It's a rarity to see 171% year-on-year growth like that.

One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. Not all of NSC Groupe's revenue last year was revenue from operations, so keep in mind the revenue and margin numbers used in this article might not be the best representation of the underlying business. NSC Groupe maintained stable EBIT margins over the last year, all while growing revenue 25% to €70m. That's encouraging news for the company!

Are NSC Groupe Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Theory would suggest that it's an encouraging sign to see high insider ownership of a company, since it ties company performance directly to the financial success of its management. So we're pleased to report that NSC Groupe insiders own a meaningful share of the business. To be exact, company insiders hold 63% of the company, so their decisions have a significant impact on their investments. This should be seen as a good thing, as it means insiders have a personal interest in delivering the best outcomes for shareholders. Although, with NSC Groupe being valued at €20m, this is a small company we're talking about. So this large proportion of shares owned by insiders only amounts to €13m. That's not a huge stake in absolute terms, but it should help keep insiders aligned with other shareholders.

Should You Add NSC Groupe To Your Watchlist?

NSC Groupe's earnings per share growth have been climbing higher at an appreciable rate.
