We Think Sedlmayr Grund und Immobilien (FRA:SPB) Can Stay On Top Of Its Debt
Warren Buffett famously said, 'Volatility is far from synonymous with risk.' So it might be obvious that you need to consider debt, when you think about how risky any given stock is, because too much debt can sink a company. As with many other companies Sedlmayr Grund und Immobilien AG (FRA:SPB) makes use of debt. But the more important question is: how much risk is that debt creating?
When Is Debt Dangerous?
Debt and other liabilities become risky for a business when it cannot easily fulfill those obligations, either with free cash flow or by raising capital at an attractive price. We can see from the most recent balance sheet that Sedlmayr Grund und Immobilien had liabilities of €4.92m falling due within a year, and liabilities of €910.5m due beyond that. When we consider all the factors mentioned above, we do feel a bit cautious about Sedlmayr Grund und Immobilien's use of debt. While debt does have its upside in higher potential returns, we think shareholders should definitely consider how debt levels might make the stock more risky.
