Those who invested in Hundsun Technologies (SHSE:600570) a year ago are up 43%
Passive investing in index funds can generate returns that roughly match the overall market. But you can significantly boost your returns by picking above-average stocks. To wit, the Hundsun Technologies Inc. (SHSE:600570) share price is 42% higher than it was a year ago, much better than the market return of around 19% (not including dividends) in the same period. That's a solid performance by our standards! Unfortunately the longer term returns are not so good, with the stock falling 16% in the last three years.
So let's assess the underlying fundamentals over the last 1 year and see if they've moved in lock-step with shareholder returns.

There is no denying that markets are sometimes efficient, but prices do not always reflect underlying business performance. One way to examine how market sentiment has changed over time is to look at the interaction between a company's share price and its earnings per share (EPS).
During the last year, Hundsun Technologies actually saw its earnings per share drop 0.8%.
We don't think that the decline in earnings per share is a good measure of the business over the last twelve months. It makes sense to check some of the other fundamental data for an explanation of the share price rise.
We are skeptical of the suggestion that the 0.4% dividend yield would entice buyers to the stock. Revenue was pretty stable on last year, so deeper research might be needed to explain the share price rise.

A Different Perspective
We're pleased to report that Hundsun Technologies shareholders have received a total shareholder return of 43% over one year. That's including the dividend. There's no doubt those recent returns are much better than the TSR loss of 4% per year over five years. This makes us a little wary, but the business might have turned around its fortunes. When was the last time that Tesla delivered on its promises? Lets go through the list! The last successful would be the Tesla Model 3 which was 2019 with first deliveries 2017. Roadster not shipped. Tesla Cybertruck global roll out failed. They might have a bunch of prototypes (that are being controlled remotely) And you think they'll be able to ship something as complicated as a robot? It's a pure speculation buy.
This article completely disregards (ignores, forgets) how far China is in this field. If Tesla continues on this path, they will be fighting for their lives trying to sell $40000 dollar robots that can do less than a $10000 dollar one from China will do. Fair value of Tesla? It has always been a hype stock with a valuation completely unbased in reality. Your guess is as good as mine, but especially after the carbon credit scheme got canned, it is downwards of $150.
