While not a mind-blowing move, it is good to see that the Roshow Technology Co., Ltd. (SZSE:002617) share price has gained 26% in the last three months. But that is small recompense for the exasperating returns over three years. In that time, the share price dropped 54%. So the improvement may be a real relief to some. The rise has some hopeful, but turnarounds are often precarious.

Given the past week has been tough on shareholders, let's investigate the fundamentals and see what we can learn.

To quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' By comparing earnings per share (EPS) and share price changes over time, we can get a feel for how investor attitudes to a company have morphed over time.

Roshow Technology became profitable within the last five years. We would usually expect to see the share price rise as a result. So given the share price is down it's worth checking some other metrics too.

Arguably the revenue decline of 7.4% per year has people thinking Roshow Technology is shrinking. And that's not surprising, since it seems unlikely that EPS growth can continue for long in the absence of revenue growth.

A Different Perspective

We regret to report that Roshow Technology shareholders are down 8.6% for the year. Unfortunately, that's worse than the broader market decline of 0.6%. Having said that, it's inevitable that some stocks will be oversold in a falling market. The key is to keep your eyes on the fundamental developments. On the bright side, long term shareholders have made money, with a gain of 0.4% per year over half a decade. If the fundamental data continues to indicate long term sustainable growth, the current sell-off could be an opportunity worth considering. Is Roshow Technology cheap compared to other companies?
