Should You Be Adding Siegfried Holding (VTX:SFZN) To Your Watchlist Today?
Like a puppy chasing its tail, some new investors often chase 'the next big thing', even if that means buying 'story stocks' without revenue, let alone profit. Unfortunately, high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson.
If, on the other hand, you like companies that have revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Siegfried Holding (VTX:SFZN). While profit is not necessarily a social good, it's easy to admire a business that can consistently produce it. In comparison, loss making companies act like a sponge for capital - but unlike such a sponge they do not always produce something when squeezed.

Siegfried Holding's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
As one of my mentors once told me, share price follows earnings per share (EPS). It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. Over the last three years, Siegfried Holding has grown EPS by 12% per year. That's a good rate of growth, if it can be sustained.
I like to see top-line growth as an indication that growth is sustainable, and I look for a high earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margin to point to a competitive moat (though some companies with low margins also have moats). The good news is that Siegfried Holding is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 4.0 percentage points to 9.6%, over the last year. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

Are Siegfried Holding Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own Siegfried Holding shares worth a considerable sum. Notably, they have an enormous stake in the company, worth CHF311m. This suggests to me that leadership will be very mindful of shareholders' interests when making decisions!
Should You Add Siegfried Holding To Your Watchlist?
One positive for Siegfried Holding is that it is growing EPS. That's nice to see. Just as polish makes silverware pop, the high level of insider ownership enhances my enthusiasm for this growth. That combination appeals to me, for one. So yes, I do think the stock is worth keeping an eye on.
