There's No Escaping Vibe Growth Corporation's (CSE:VIBE) Muted Revenues Despite A 31% Share Price Rise
Vibe Growth Corporation (CSE:VIBE) shares have continued their recent momentum with a 31% gain in the last month alone. Unfortunately, the gains of the last month did little to right the losses of the last year with the stock still down 43% over that time.
In spite of the firm bounce in price, Vibe Growth may still be sending buy signals at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.1x, considering almost half of all companies in the Healthcare industry in Canada have P/S ratios greater than 0.8x and even P/S higher than 3x aren't out of the ordinary. However, the P/S might be low for a reason and it requires further investigation to determine if it's justified.

How Vibe Growth Has Been Performing
As an illustration, revenue has deteriorated at Vibe Growth over the last year, which is not ideal at all. Perhaps the market believes the recent revenue performance isn't good enough to keep up the industry, causing the P/S ratio to suffer. Those who are bullish on Vibe Growth will be hoping that this isn't the case so that they can pick up the stock at a lower valuation.

The only time you'd be truly comfortable seeing a P/S as low as Vibe Growth's is when the company's growth is on track to lag the industry.
Taking a look back first, the company's revenue growth last year wasn't something to get excited about as it posted a disappointing decline of 27%. The last three years don't look nice either as the company has shrunk revenue by 58% in aggregate. Accordingly, shareholders would have felt downbeat about the medium-term rates of revenue growth.
In contrast to the company, the rest of the industry is expected to grow by 19% over the next year, which really puts the company's recent medium-term revenue decline into perspective.
With this in mind, we understand why Vibe Growth's P/S is lower than most of its industry peers. Nonetheless, there's no guarantee the P/S has reached a floor yet with revenue going in reverse. Even just maintaining these prices could be difficult to achieve as recent revenue trends are already weighing down the shares.
The Bottom Line On Vibe Growth's P/S
Vibe Growth's stock price has surged recently, but its but its P/S still remains modest. We'd say the price-to-sales ratio's power isn't primarily as a valuation instrument but rather to gauge current investor sentiment and future expectations.
As we suspected, our examination of Vibe Growth revealed its shrinking revenue over the medium-term is contributing to its low P/S, given the industry is set to grow. Right now shareholders are accepting the low P/S as they concede future revenue probably won't provide any pleasant surprises either. Given the current circumstances, it seems unlikely that the share price will experience any significant movement in either direction in the near future if recent medium-term revenue trends persist.
