With NG Energy International Up 14%, Insider Buyers Count Their Returns

Last week, NG Energy International Corp. (CVE:GASX) insiders, who had purchased shares in the previous 12 months were rewarded handsomely. The shares increased by 14% last week, resulting in a CA$36m increase in the company's market worth, implying a 15% gain on their initial purchase. In other words, the original US$78.7k purchase is now worth US$90.5k.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

NG Energy International Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Chief Executive Officer Jorge Chaumer bought CA$79k worth of shares at a price of CA$0.96 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (CA$1.11), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
