Perseus Mining Insiders Sold US$3.2m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy
Over the past year, many Perseus Mining Limited (ASX:PRU) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. Knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more helpful when evaluating insider transactions, as insider selling can have various explanations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Perseus Mining
The MD, CEO & Executive Director, Jeffrey Quartermaine, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$3.1m worth of shares at a price of AU$2.62 each. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of AU$2.60. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

Insider Ownership
Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Insiders own 0.6% of Perseus Mining shares, worth about AU$20m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
